Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What programs and services does Ananda offer to the public?
A: All of our services are open to the community. Please start by reviewing our Services page for a listing of the diverse services we offer at our institute.
Q: I'm interested in receiving services from Ananda. Where do I begin?
A: Here at Ananda, all clients must first schedule an intake interview with our therapists. The appointment is an hour long, and must be prepaid at the time it is scheduled. During this appointment, our therapist will talk with you about our programs, your options, and our program requirements.
There is some paperwork for you to fill out, so always arrive early to your intake appointment! If you have to miss your intake appointment, please give us 24 hours (or longer) notice, as the therapists who perform the intakes have limited schedules. If you miss your appointment without notice, your intake fee will not be refunded. To schedule an appointment, please call us at (707) 544-4441.
Q: What must I bring to my first appointment?
A: All patients must bring the paperwork that was given to them by our front office when the appointment was set. If your appointment was made by phone, it is helpful for you to come by our office before your appointment (or early on the day of) to fill out paperwork.
Please also bring any health insurance cards or health coverage information, as well as a Photo I.D.
If you are court mandated or referred to us by CPS, parole, probation, or another program, you must bring your referral or court paperwork with you to the first appointment. This paperwork is necessary to place you in the appropriate group or with the right therapist; without it you will not be seen.
Q: Which therapist will I see?
A: As mentioned above, an appropriate group or therapist will be determined after your intake interview. All of the therapists in our office meet once a week to determine the best program and therapist for new clients. Our services are provided by licensed therapists with a variety of specializations, as well as by experienced interns working toward their high level degrees.
Q: My therapist is an intern, what does that mean?
A: The term "intern" can sound misleading. Our interns are highly trained and educated professional therapists who are working toward their high level doctoral degrees or professional certifications. All therapists must complete a certain number of hours with clients as part of their continuing education. Interns are supervised by and meet regularly with our program directors to maintain the highest level of training for them, and to provide the best service to you.
